Update!!!!!!!!!

Hello my fellow Philanthropic people, here is the update...

Group Guidlines:
  • Everything that my group does is to help better the live's of youth so that they can live healthy and happy lives.
  • Stay on task
  • Be supportive of other people's ideas
  • Bring ideas

Our group works well together because from the very beginning, we have identified what role we are good at in terms of working a group (i.e. the leader, the thinker, the worker, etc.). This has allowed us to assume these respective positions and be efficient while doing work together. One thing that we think we should change is that we should switch up the roles so that one person does not feel as though they are being controlled by one person, or that one person is doing all the work.

Right now, this is what each member of the group is doing:

Tianlee is making a parent pamphlet for kids to bring home to their families.

Sarah is getting the supplies for our game, and is working on her power point.

Garrick is making his power point presentation

Tori is making his part of the power point presentation, and is also thinking of ideas to put into our video

Success for my group at the end of this project would be if we were able to give our lesson plan about the importance of healthy eating to an organization that (at the moment) soley distributes lunches to schools.

We will try to reach this goal by getting an organization to cooperate and want to take on this challenge.

But if we are unable to do that, we will still feel successful if we finish our lesson plan, and make it downloadable on our blog's website for people to use.

Where we are today....

In class today we actually can't do that much. We are ready to produce our bingo cards for our curriculum however we don't have the supplies to do so. This weekend our homework will be to get the supplies and start working on the boards. Next class, we will hopefully finish the boards and powerpoint presentation so that we can prepare our presentation and be ready for Tianlee's brother's class.

Also, we are trying to update our blog with pretty pictures, and more info.

MESSAGE FROM JAMIE

The American Food Revolution needs to start now! If you care about your country and the health of its children please help us make a difference. We need your support to get people back in touch with food and keep cooking skills alive before it's too late. We want to make sure every kid gets good, fresh food at school. It's proven that real food promotes more effective learning. If you want better health for your kids the junk food must go. I need to be able to show The President and industry how many of you out there really care about this issue so please don't wait, sign up today. It will only take 30 seconds.

America's health needs you!

Thank you. Please forward this to your friends, family, classmates, teachers, colleagues and anyone else who you think cares as time is short.

Group Update

So we still haven't heard back from an organization, but we are still hoping that the person we are corresponding with emails us back soon. We are currently developing a lesson plan and a game about the food pyramid that can be used to educate youth about eating healthily .

On a different note, we are trying to find the contact information for Jamie Oliver. He is a world renowned chef who has a show on the abc network called "Food Revolution". He is going all around the country to try and reform the lunch programs in school districts. You all should check it out. It is a really interesting show, and you can view it for free at abc's website.

Tianlee Chu's Partnership Statement

I strive to provide healthy lunches to children and to educate them on healthy eating so that they may have the benefit of living a long, healthy life. In this process of giving, I must be courageous and passionate and willing to sacrifice my time and energy for the well-being of my community. I must also utilize my design skills to create lunches that are nutritious, appealing to students, and affordable in order that all students may have access to the benefits of healthy eating.

Tori's Partnership Mission Statement

In my obligation to myself, I am obligated to others through my purpose of enjoying life through compassion, friendship, and love. I strive to fulfill my duty through the improvement of school lunches by educating children on nutrition, designing lunches that are environmental friendly, appealing, and cost efficient, and ultimately instilling healthy eating habits. Through this, I advocate for equal access and privilege for the betterment of my community. As a result, my actions have a mutual benefit, where both my community and I are rewarded with the satisfaction of fulfillment and giving, allowing us to enjoy life.

Garrick's Parnership Misson Statement

Due to the alarming increase in obesity among the youth in America, I want to inspire people to be passionate about having a healthy lifestyle. Through my own story, I will be able to relate to the students who are in the situation that I was in, and be able to tell them how they can change their lives for the better. Ultimately, I think that it will be through the community service that our dilemma group does that will really inspire youth to lead healthy lives. For it is when children have fun learning certain things that they become lifelong learners, as well as lifelong lovers of it.
